I've been using TatuDerm since 2012 on my clients as well as myself. As soon as I thought to even look for it on Amazon, I was excited to see it was available here for the same cost as buying directly from the company or any distributor - with Prime shipping, too. Win. It is the exact same product that I've always bought, so the savings in shipping costs definitely means I will now be purchasing this from Amazon from now on.----------------------------------------To Tattoo Artists:- Before applying this to clients, make sure they have no problems with Band-Aids, medical tape, or wearing any kind of adhesive. Those with even a mild allergy to adhesives will not have a good experience with any products like this.- Make sure you store the unused portion of your roll in a sealed container to ensure the product's sterility. The bag it comes in is not resealable and leaving the roll out is not going to do anyone any favors. I use a kitchen jar with a lid for it, and have included a clean pair of scissors with it that I only use to cut the TatuDerm roll. It's not 100% sterile, but it's the best I've found to do with the product.- I use this on everything, including small pieces. That being said, I can go through one roll a week - easily. My clients love it, and they tell their friends and family about it. The healing maintenance is non-existent with this product, and those who use it will become spoiled. If I run out of it, they are disappointed. So, if you are going to try it, be prepared to create Derm Addicts. That being said, I don't remember the last touch up I did - even on newbies, even on feet, even on the ribs on the bra line, even behind the ankle, even on the top of a finger.... See where I'm going with this? TatuDerm has become my tattoo insurance policy as it has eliminated customer error during the most critical time of the healing process.- Shave well beyond the tattoo area. TatuDerm needs about an inch of extra product around the site to be able to create a good barrier and seal the tattoo properly, and it does NOT like to stick to hair. Be sure that you do not apply it on hair. No good will come from this.- Clean off all ointment before applying TatuDerm. Basically, snap your photo and then apply. Think of it like this: whatever is under the TatuDerm is going to be there for the next 24 hours. The reason you can use the wrap for this long is because TatuDerm is breathable. If you don't clean off the excess ointment from the tattoo first, you are trapping a breeding ground for bacteria with the tattoo - no beuno.- If the tattoo is still weeping/leaking/bleeding when you apply the TatuDerm, it probably will not stay on the full 24 hours. Let the skin calm down and "settle" a bit before applying. I wash the tattoo again and again if it's really aggravated and let the client get up and stretch/smoke/bathroom before applying.- If the client informs you that they are going to the beach/pool the next day, leave an extra 2 inches or more around the tattoo and they will NOT ruin their tattoo. I've found this allows for a better "seal" to the skin and truly creates a water-tight barrier. I try to discourage the trip to the pool, but clients will be clients and I fully expect them to not listen to me. After all their friend __[insert name]__ did it and didn't have any problems.- The tattoo might look "soupy" under the TatuDerm, as the product will lock in all excess lymph fluid/blood/ink/plasma. Everything that is responsible for creating scabs if not cleaning off thoroughly is now trapped. Sometimes, the barrier will bubble and fill with this. It will look disgusting. This is highly likely on full saturation pieces. This is good. The chances of scabbing are now minimal - which will make for a speedier healing process.- When applying, try to not create air pockets/bubbles. Center the product to the tattoo and push out from the middle while applying. The air pockets won't allow the product to work as efficiently.- If applying to a black and gray piece, know that the gray will take longer to soften than usual. It will soften, just much slower than usual. What used to take a month, now takes 2-3 months to lighten completely.- Inform the client that removing TatuDerm can feel like taking off a Band-Aid, so the best place to remove it will be during a shower. This will allow for a thorough cleaning of the tattoo as well.**I've had clients leave this product on for upwards of 5 days (not per instructions) without problems. I typically tell them "leave on for up to 48 hours" and I've never had anyone have a problem.----------------------------Perks of using the product vs. cling wrap, etc.- It's breathable.- It's waterproof- It won't let the client "stick" to their sheets while sleeping.- It keeps pet hair away from the tattoo- It limits swelling (very helpful for feet and elbows)- It's more comfortable for the client- It doesn't allow clothing to interfere with healing, even socks---------------------------I hope this helps. Happy tattooing.
